20211109_084357.jpg Had to pull the trigger on another project 3 days ago... A local FB Marketplace offering that I couldn't refuse. This is what waking up at 4am and surfing FB gets you.

I saw the ad at 430 or so...and it had been up for 7hrs. I message... "I'll take it" and anxiously await a reply. At this point I didn't expect much as I was already 7hrs late...in my mind! After an hr of waiting I tell my wife that I'm going to make a parts run and I'm off to get closer to the town this is located (45mins away) I get a message that I'm number 1 of 15 responded. I pass that I'm 10min away...and BAM! I'm strapping it down in the truck and the seller is writing me up a bill of sale. Was back home and unloaded in time to go to work only slightly late!

Here's some picks for the intro. An old Hotrod from the day. Saw some time on the east coast (Mass) then was at NC for awhile. It allegedly was locked up in a House to keep the thieves away for an unknown amount of time. Was purchase from an estate sale in NC and traveled to Alabama. Now it's in Florida.

I'd call the condition better than average. Needs some clean-up and lower patches in the typical areas. There's a cobbled floor that's been welded in it along the subrails that needs removed. Doors are nearly spot on and swing well. Roof has been plugged and there's some wood that could use replacement. My initial goal is to transition from my current build of the Iron Butterfly Coupe to this one. Once I've determined what I may want to pull from the IBC project... I'll turn it over to someone else....

Plans for it are 31 Highboy, 32 rails, 2.5 in chop, refresh/retain original upholstery, patina finish (maybe), 8BA w/T-5 trans, big and little tires.....and ??? we'll see.

That padded dash "with no holes!?" What the heck.... Suspect that having gages on the dash was considered (too conventional) in the 60s or 70s. Ha ha.

My buddies used to call that "truckers interior". Seemed like every semi had diamond pleats in it back in the day.

Adams, Mass is out near NY border. Way cool interior may help in finding some history on it. Shifter is 68-74 Nova. Maybe Dave Simard would know some history. Neat old coupe, good luck with it

  9. Adams is just a short run of 20 miles from me. Some of the boys from the Pittsfield area might know that car. Maybe Glen @CruZer will chime in here

That interior material used to be sold in 'bolts'. Think it was 48" wide on the roll, you bought it by the running yard. Guys would buy the diamond tuck and punch it out at the corners of the diamonds, then pull black buttons thru. Looked like turn of the century Horseless Carriage interior... in 'T' buckets!
They also offered 'tuck & roll', my bud Ramsay bought some for his '30 'A' coupe we had channeled.
Worked good, when new it looked like the real thing.
Material was called 'Elastofab', but being pre-stretched and committed to the T & R mode, had to be fitted, cut, attached, and 'bound'. (a 'border' was sewn over all the edges)
That material was installed in 1958, was still in there in '65, after 3 owners!
Car was finally bought by Marshall Sargent, made into a roundy-round racer, a bitter end for a nice little flathead hot rod. (with COOL tuck-n-Roll!)

Thanks for that information!!!!! Make sence.... while I'd not have initially chose this diamond design today... I am strongly considering refreshing it and adding what's missing to keep this survivor look.

@Boxcar's 1928 will you be stealing from the earlier project to get this car sorted?

I'm not sure if I have to steal much.... but the firewall, lower trunk panel.. probably yes. But I can replace with others not as nice. Will sell the whole car off to include a boxed mod a frame...as long as my 32 rolling chassis deal happens tomorrow. Fingers crossed

Congrats! I love those rare times I find myself in the right place at the right time, and with the money to throw down. You know, planets in alignment. Knowing there were 14 others you beat to the punch just makes it better.

Good lord, yes buy a few lottery tickets. Actually, you’ll probably only need to buy one.
    Congrats on the score!

    Looks good!
You can knock the feet out of the cowl and spread the firewall a bit, it will lay down on that 32 frame like it’s lived there all along.

  28. ^^^^which will require a shorter radiator for the right look. Ask me how I figured that out:rolleyes:
