Since mine are on single and shared exhaust ports they would mean nothing to your 262. One of the major problems with header design/theory is a deep pocket is needed for the finding the best. Mine were a compromise even after numbers were computed. Everything needs to be known from exhaust flow bench numbers, compression, cam timing, etc then the ability to adjust lengths with dyno time for testing.
I couldn’t venture a guess how much time and money are spent on the top racing in the world on exhaust design. Changing just one item in the engine means a change in header design.
I’m guessing there will be one pipe at the end and it will be tapered with a bell on the end and hard to fit under a real low vehicle. Mine had to come out the side and we hid everything we could under the hood side. For me it cost a year of any racing as all the money was spent on the header system. JD

  3. Been doing a lot of research on this subject and it all comes down to the engine combination, head designed ectera..
And I agree if you happen to get it just right it's worth a few extra HP over a standard header. The science behind the design is comon knowledge but getting it all to work together is the hard part.
I haven't seen anything that has been done on the Ford 262 l6. Very few have built these engines and so very little info is out there on it .
So it's all an experiment on how to make HP from what is basically a tractor motor
Built for torque and low RPM power. I do belive however I am on the right track as we improve each time we hit the Salt.
What will happen in 2022 is yet to come as we improve on what we have learned so far. Remember we have only 14 passes down the salt in the 3 times we have ever been to Bonneville. And we are getting closer to the record with every pass..
We are proud of what we have accomplished so far.
We still have a little left to perfect but we will get there eventually
Thank you out to everyone supporting team 640

I was surprised to read in the rules that the production class stock frame could be altered. Not allowed years ago and a now a great advantage in lowering any brand vehicle. Definitely going to help in your quest.

Me too. I wonder how far you could push it (front half/back half?) before they say Nut-Uh?

  13. The frame can be clipped forward of the cab and reward of the cab but the frame under the cab must remain.

  14. Just noticed that as well in my current book

  15. Mock up motor is ready to go in so I can work on pan clearance between the pan and front axel. Then I can calculate where the upper shock mounts will be. 20211102_113951.jpg 20211102_112441.jpg

  16. Our front axle arrived from nastalga Sids dropped axles today. Very nice job on dropping it 3 inches. Now I can get some work finished on the front end.. photos tomorrow..

So you can buy cheap parts! Almost every adapter company does this for any make engine.

  19. But not for this engine combo I had to make my own .
    A QUESTION
What rear set up works best.
    Posi
    Spool
    Or open differential
    What say you record holders???

    Seven records with Open.
    One spin with Posi.

    (But every car is different.)

All of our records are with an open rear over 200 MPH plus so far.

  22. Work day today was mostly shop clean up but we did get the mock up motor in and set the rear housing back under the truck 20211106_144003.jpg 20211106_144025.jpg 20211106_144109.jpg

Old wisdom from many drivers and owner of cars with a wheelbase near 110”over thousands of timed speed runs.

“If your car spins with an open dif..put in a posi”..
“If your car spins with a posi dif..take it out.

More important is your drive tires should be within 1/8” circumference. O” is preferred.

I am presuming they mean "spins the rear tires on the salt surface", not "spins out end-to-end"? Or are they referring to either situation?

    WHEEE-E-E-e-e-e!

Just wondering - is it legal to keep your foot in it after a spin or do they make you agree to get out of it, maybe in a drivers' pre meeting?

I'd hate to waste a run LOL.

I don't know about you, but I never had the courage to get on the throttle at about 200 MPH going backwards.

We changed out the 3.00 posi with a 3.00 one-leg and recorded the next day and two at over 200.

  30. Today's progress report
The front axel is almost done. Just need to set the ride height, oil pan clearance and finish the welding 20211109_135404.jpg 20211109_135420.jpg 20211109_135517.jpg 20211109_135523.jpg 20211109_135542.jpg
