Nice write up..... I really love the "Kiss-my-ass" attitude the chopped T shows! Please tell us your gonna get some front brakes on that puppy before the blower and other stuff. Definitely a "bare bones" look.....will you have a problem getting tags for it?! One quick question.......why did you X the pipes between the front and the radiator? I think.....it woulda been a cleaner job if the pipes had each gone straight back! (IF you ever have air bubble issues in the long cooling pipes just park it with the rear higher than the front...remove radiator cap....bring engine up to temp....It should 'burp' all the air out no prob.) Cool ride 6sally6 PS.......after seeing all those cars at the Cruis'in the Coast please tell me you have that Shivel-lay motor cammed 'out-of-it's-mind!?! A hot rod needs to sound like a hot rod!!!
@6sally6 scroll back and you’ll see the Buick drums thst will go up front current motor has a cam in it but is on its way out. Putting a new one together this winter, grabbing a block and getting started this weekend. it will be as nasty as he can afford it to be. And it’s a sbc so pretty nasty I’d guess lol
in missouri we can get historic plates without inspections. so it will be relatively easy to plate. and for your other point, it would have been cleaner, but then it would have been pumping hot water in the bottom of the radiator, which didn't seem like a good idea. so the crossed pipes is to correct flow, so just like your front mounted radiator, the hot water goes in the top and cool-er water comes out the bottom. and we learned all about correctly filling the rad... this was waiting for the thermostat to open to fill the rest of the way after swapping heads.
sweet coupe! that smile says it all....@dana barlow has been hot rodding for over 65 years guys like him are invaluable in terms of history and experience...not sure there was call to get so defensive over a guy offering his insight...now I'm afraid to ask my question about why the engine is so high up? and if there are plans to lower it for vision issues that might occur with the blower
@Nailhead A-V8 I think the motor looks extra tall because the body is channeled. That car is very low, Im sure he figured if the motor was lower in the chassis the oil pan would become sacrificial. @Austin kays wanna throw a tape on it and see how far from the bottom of the pan to the ground? also I’m sure how it looks came into play, it looks pretty dead on to how @BigJoeArt always draws hotrods. It was kind of a “hey I bet I’ve got enough in the garage to build this drawing” kinda build I think
The purple people eater is a lot taller. think more cherry pie because of overturning else going on it’s easy to miss how channeled this thing is. It’s pretty common for a carb top to be even with a T cowl too with out a channel
@Paul current project for visual reference of a non channeled T body/ engine relation. it’s easy to forget how tiny and low this coupe is because of how aggressive looking it is. There’s not really anywhere else for that engine to land. either way, yeah, it’s pretty radical
Well ordered the street supercharging book but was the revised edition so ordered the second one with detailed re build and conversation details and while I was doing that my 671 multiplied!
Picked up a 32 shell and insert and decided it was gonna be the one on the T cut it down and fit it around today.
Thinking we need to start a go fund me so he can put a half dozen of @stromberg-97 carbs on top Of that blower!
This thing's a kick in the ass and you know it. Any chance you get, hug the lane to environmentalist bike paths. Green peace.......................
Have you run the car enough to see if it stays cool? I am in the process of a similar build using a early Dodge 241 hemi but using a electric water pump. Fingers crossed that it stays cool
