Hey, figured I would share some progress as I delve into chopping my first non model A. I picked up this 40 plymouth coupe in July and decided to try my hand at a chop. Here is where I started and the progress so far.

Here is another update to the chop, I have some catching up to do for uploading. This project was started in mid july so pictures and updates will come fast. This is how I did my quarter windows. I found it easier and think it looks better to fully split the b pillar completely rather than just slit it and spread it apart.
This is where I am at now, hopefully this helps someone looking to chop their own. Pretty much just have the door tops to do and finish weld the inside, then Ill work on getting the garnish moldings to fit.
Love it. Small suggestion, please consider making your photos full size rather than thumbnails. Makes it easier for us.
The car was very cool to start with, but now that there has been some major progress accomplished, it's ultra double mega cool now ! Love the big yellow fog light on the rear as well.
Thanks, I like this roof profile way better. The car came with a lot of character when I got it, the trunk floor is an old squirt soda sign with the names of all the original owners grand children carved in it.
Looks good so far, the world needs more customs. I would have said it's hard to improve on the looks of the Plymouth roofline but I'm all for it now that I see it. At first glance I thought this car might have been my old '40 coupe but it's not.
Keep it stock looking for now. I have a disc brake conversion kit in it, relocating the shock arms to their correct position, have a Cherokee sway bar waiting to be installed. Not trying to hijack your thread, but mine is here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1940-plymouth-coupe-build.427437/ I am looking forward to your progress!
