[IMG]Halliday family customized 1937 Ford convertible with mildly chopped windshield, padded top, wide white wall tires, single bar flipper hubcaps, single Appleton Spotlights and 1937 DeSoto bumpers and exteneded headlights.

[IMG]I think this photo comes from the Dick Bertolucci Collection and shows and early Custom 1936 Ford created by Harry Westergard. The running boards are removed, the front fender reshaped and peeked at the back. The rear fender dressed up with a simple stainless rock-shield, and the most interesting thing is the nicely shaped frame cover. It was mentioned that Harry used a Model A Sedan top to shape these wonderful frame covers.

[IMG]Just including this photo to show the most popular version of the single bar flipper hubcap. And how it was already available in 1940. This particular one has three ribs, but there were also version with two, and even one rib.

Bobby Marshall post. I think this is a friend out of San Angelo Texas named Marvin Fillip. Marvin raced with my dad's asphalt Super Modifieds on the Texas pavement tracks which were usually 1/4 miles like Longhorn Speedway of Speed-O-Rama in my hometown of Austin Texas and Pan American Speedway in San Antonio, and they ran Abilene, San Angelo, Lubbock, and places like Meyerland Speedway in Houston which was a 1/2 mile. Marvin Fillip was one of the top racers along with Bill White, Wayne Niedecken, Bubba Cowan and others. I used to play with Marvin's kids at the races and one became a USAC Silver Crown Champion, Chet Fillip, and his brother Corey Fillip has a successful race shock business I believe in the Indianapolis area.[IMG]

A classic Ascot photo of Bubby Jones in the Chandler Ogden Stanton Car, Lealand McSpadden in the center with Dean Thompson in the Bromme #3 in a three car slide through the turn at Ascot. It was poetry in motion.[IMG]

Notice the 4 door 64 Fairlane HiPo 271 h.p. car. Only one I've ever seen.
