  3. Friday night I grabbed the 57 from ''storage'' and was cruising home around 9:30pm @ 50 mph and my driver front tire blew out.. Had a buddy bring me some uni-lug steel wheels and drove it home. Next morning drove it to a local car show and picked up a trophie! mis matched wheels and all!

The stance and wheel/tire combo on that thing are killer. I love a good sedan! I'd also be wet sanding those scallops off of there asap :)

  6. See I'm conflicted on the scallops, yes I'd like to get rid of them..but somebody (uncle?) on my wifes family painted them back in the day!

  7. So I had a change in plans..I ended up with this 292 from a 60 F100 I parted out. The engine had been rebuilt a few years back and probably has under 1k miles on it. I was going to pull the Y out of my 57 and just do a re gasket and repaint and away I go...Well you all know how that goes. With the help of my buddy we pulled my engine out, robbed a few things off of it. Next we prepped and painted the engine bay, I did a texture on lower half of firewall and inner fenders. Now to the "new" motor. It had been bored .30 over and had small cubic inch merc heads, I swapped on some newer bigger Y heads that I had on ANOTHER engine I acquired. I replaced cam and lifters with a regrind 276 duration, .440 lift stick, push rods, heavy duty timing chain and gears, oil pump, NGK plugs, Accel wires, re-gasketed everything then primed and smothered in some gloss black paint I had. We got the cam broke in today and had a test drive, runs alot better and actually has compression now! Still a few small things to do and fine tuning. But now I can rack some miles up on it! Here's some pics after my rambling.

    Luv it!
One of the few cars that looks as good in a post version as a hardtop.
Cousins had 57's while in HS back in the 60's.

  13. Great looking '57. I have always liked that and the '59, the '61 and I owned 3 '64 Fords. Somehow I wound up with a '59.

  14. Just been driving it occasionally. Got some granada spindles and a front end rebuild kit so all that will happen here pretty soon.

That thing is just right as is. Glad to hear you decided to keep a y-block in it.

  23. Front end rebuild is about 97% done. All that's left is to bleed the brakes and align the front end which I will do myself.
