Technical Chev Hubcap what year

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by keith27T, Jul 26, 2021.

  1. I know it looks like a 37 38 but it doesn’t have the line and the curl.
Anyone know what it was for? 3EDC9045-3B9A-40DB-8F8A-95A686C03A75.jpeg

  2. Might be a aftermarket - that script just doesn't look right.....

I'd say that Stillrunner nailed it. A JC Whitney type of almost looks like replacement that was half price of a new one from the dealer. This should be the original version.

It might possibly be a base model cap for the same year or a truck cap for the same year though.

  4. Okay thanks, you two. I was thinking they might have had a different one for Canada?

The hubcap I showed above was from a 37 and their sales brochure used the design on the cover. 37 hubcvap image.jpg

  6. That is the same as what I had on my Australian made '37. I sold it, but kept a spare hubcap. 20210727_135413 (2).jpg

It's a Holden/export cap, check out this link which hopefully works

and quote "The Holden (note the blue wheel and hubcap without "speed streams") had a different stripe pattern."

Aftermarket caps wouldn't have the correct spelling of Chevrolet on them since the maker would have to pay to use the trademark.

  8. They were probably used on Canada as well then. Thanks Squablow

  9. Canada and Australia were both Commonwealth countries then, we got a lot of CKD's from Canada, so you would have ended up with Australian hubcaps. 188978401_1404135449967191_276457792947694158_n (2).jpg
