Been thinking about adding a 40 Ford pickup to my bucket list. Most of the time though its hard to get one with decent fenders. I'm wondering if the passenger car front fenders and hood will interchange. What are the differences and has anyone done this.

  2. No, truck and car fenders look the same but are different, hoods as well, I believe the car fenders and hoods are a tad longer, and the cowls are different, so the attachment of the fenders is different. Not sure on the back side of the hood alignment. That being said, it is not a bolt on deal, but anything can be made to work. I have seen a few 40 41 pickups with 40 deluxe front ends, not sure all the work needed, but i know its extensive.

Front fenders can be made to fit with some massaging along the cowl edge. The hoods are completely different. Grilles are the exact same as standard passenger.

39 Ford deluxe car fenders with 39 car grille. Has 39 car hood latch, too, as I recall. The latch did not engage properly so used my trusty bungy cord!;):D Yep, that is a 41 pickup hood.
    Any questions?
    Hoods different as stated.
Find good cab and title and get at it!
    Good luck.

I've never had a problem finding rear fenders for 40/41 but 35-37 Ford pickup are rare

Ya know there’s someone out there sitting on several hundred sets of 35-7 tears, saying “some day”. Lol.
I’ve seen some a swapmeets that barely resembled a fender for 4-500 a pop. Running boards the same. The running boards were repopped for awhile, but seems that went out a favor a few years back.

I am not a body man, so I sold mine and went with Wescott fiberglass. The stuff fits perfect ! IMG_5044.JPG

Friend has a full set of 40 fenders boards and hood--all very nice too--may get just in case I can find a pickup

  11. Somebody on here or Fordbarn had a post on rear fenders, and said use the more available 46-48 rears and replace the front where they attach to the boards with readily available 40-41 front patch sections.

Here’s some info on fronts. Scroll down to lower half.
