This is the Grand Sport George Winterstein drove for Penske. He said the biggest mistake of his life was not buying it when Penske offered it to him for $10,000. I believe this picture is at Simeone Museum in Philadelphia. They just drove it around again this past weekend.

Man this shot reminds me of my very first set of M&H slicks the way they "wrinkle" the sidewalls just sitting there. :)

I think that 62 is a guy on Hamb or friend of the guy with the black 62. From NJ maybe and that might be Englishtown. I bet Jim Dillon knows.

I don't think the '64 is a Z06. From my memory they only came in coupe, not roadster.

I was questioning that too. Didn't talk to the owner but had it marked as an original factory Z06 with history.

Doug, The Z06 option was not available in 1964. All of the components that comprised the
1963 Z06 package were available in 64, but not as RPO Z06.
Only one documented 63 Z06 convertible exists.

10-4. Did you see or hear about the blue '63 in Hummelstown?

  20. Check out this barn find 57. Hasnt run since 75. Took it out today to get the cob webs off. Ran great just needs a radiator flush. All kinds of junk was coming out. Was running hot. Thats a easy fix. The car has all of the trim; hood and both tops needs alot of tlc. 20210717_113810.jpg 20210717_113816.jpg 20210717_113827.jpg

I always liked my buddys 64, silver, black interior, 327 375 four speed, he bought it brand new when he came home from the service. But unlike most, he didn't beat the hell out of it, he took very good care of it. He says it was a gift to him from the government for going to war.

I keep putting him off, he wants me to align the rear end, I'm not looking forward to this at all. He claims it has a 3:08 rear end ratio but its a four speed. It does have a strong top end and seems to love 100-120 mph..

Working on other peoples Corvettes kept me from taking the plunge. I always made sure the owners were right next to me while working on there car. They always seemed so hard to work on, you really have to love them in order to own them. My hats are off to you guys for keeping this important American piece of history alive, Zora was the coolest but the books say Harley Earl was the inventor..

My buddy's 64 roadster had a 3.08 rear and wide ratio 4 speed. It was a lower HP maybe 300 I don't remember. This was around 1966.

racer-x which small block and transmission is in your car? I can't make out the head markings from the photo. But I see the driver side valve cover is an early low script 9 fin and the passenger side is a later regular script 7 fin. Both being stagger hole.

  26. It has a 283 with a 3 speed. The trans is a non syncro first gear. Im no vette guy. So they had two different valve covers?
I think im going to make the car reliable and safe for now. Its fun to drive kind of like a big go kart. I dont have time for a restoration with a frame off 66 chevelle going on right now so it will be driven as is.
