Well, it has been a while since I have posted on here....being (77) years old, and somewhat handicapped I have spent the last four or five weeks with a horrible back that totally kept me out of the shop. However, I am back in again, and doing fine as long as I work off of my three wheeled handicap scooter...just the right height and no getting up and down. (OK done whining) Need to finish the brake lines, then pretty well done with the underside. Sooo, after the ~4th or so trial at a different front end, I finally have a winner that I like. It is only mocked up at this point, and a lot of filling in and body work to go. Basically a '62 Caddy front bumper narrowed ~(8)" to fit, '54 Merc Bullets, a '50 Merc grille, and '54 Ford headlight rings that I will French in. The grill was missing several teeth when I got it, so have been making new ones as I go along. The last two pictures show my "Dentist" work on the first grille tooth. Several more done now.
Nice work. I could have saved you some work, I got a beat up grill hanging in the shop as wall art! lol But you got it under control and I find many times fabricating a missing part is the most enjoyable part of the project. Larry
Looks good. Has a Buick vibe to me. A little progress every day. 49 Fords are one and f my favorites.
77. Progress. Thanks for the inspiration, Bob. Concerning the young lady... I almost never say this, but... Hummina hummina hummina. Those... those... EYES!
Or as my Grandpa would say... ( he was a pull my finger kind of guy) "Couple of good spare tires there."
Thanks for all the kind words.. I should clarify, I can walk, but not very far, so am not confined to my scooter.. Also here is my '63 Biscayne I built ~11 years ago when I could still kneel on the concrete, as well as lay under a car Still driving and loving it
Good to see you still at it Bob. I hope to see the 49 up close one day , like the days of bench racing in Jims garage. Maybe , if the right project comes along I'll jump back in . I just got really busy with my woodworking and Grand Kids. Good to see you back on the forum. Don (oldschool66)
