So the 47 Mercury has found a new home/care taker if you will. After the realization that my kids ( at least for now) aren't into hot rods and cools cars, it allowed me to expand my horizons. True story I rode in flamedabone's latest 5 window coupe build. Yes the satin black, chopped , Blown Pontiac , 5 speed with quick change rear end that will smoke anything that lines up with it. Yes that one. It is all hotrod and bad-assery . After that ride I decided that the super comfortable 4 door Merc would be better suited for someone else to use as a family cruiser. It sparked my to search for my grandfathers then fathers 36 Ford 3 Window. Sold in 98. 3 days of searching and 15 phone calls led me to it. The owner doesn't want to sell. I tried working on him multiple times. I knew when to stop, but will still try to keep tabs. I respect that 100%. The bad part is that it hadn't moved on over a year, sitting on tires. Long story short, the pursuit for a coupe continued. I was determined that was what I needed. That leads me to now being the Caretaker of the Kentucky Coupe. 90's era build, but for me just perfect. Each crack and chip in the paint tells some sort of a story. I just haven't figured all of them out yet. For the purists, don't worry because I cant drive with the hood up anyway. I am looking for years of great times and cruising the backroads. Not MPG but smiles per gallon.
That is a beauty! I drove mine 347 days last year. Nowhere near that this year but I drive it every chance I get. Something about cruising down the highway in a '40 Ford coupe that is truly addictive.
Stay on that 1936 and enjoy the 1940......the 1940 won't be hard to pass on if the 36 comes up for sale - hell - drive that 1940 buy the guys place - he might want to trade !
Super good lookin 40, a car that's just under a 34 coupe on my list. Glad to hear Jeff got his badass Pontiac powered 34 coupe on the road.
