Trying to identify both of these intakes and any help tuning the dual carb D&S setup, the lower end is stroked and bored as large as I'm told it can possibly go . Two brand new Stromberg 97 Chinese re-pops from speedway magazine and it just seems to be extremely fat and loads up. Any info on the 4 carb setup would be awesome can't find another one like it ? No names or tags anywhere on it.
I'd use small paper filters on those things to make sure that they get a full breath of fresh air..! I don't think those scoops would help any but the first carburetor on the freeway of a faster city street, except to FU the air flow. Mike
1 Carb will do the Same or Better than all those Carbs, They Look Good But They are Shit.! Just my 3.5 cents Live Learn & Die a Fool
It looks like the carb spacing is wide enough to fit 94's, like an Edelbrock 4-59, most flathead 4 juggers won't. My Sharp unit will, but it's different than yours.
Take the carbs apart , clean any debris, replace the economizer valve aka power valve ,even if they look good . Be sure to ket the correct type . Set float heights , no more than 3 lbs fuel pressure . Get car running , use a vacuum gauge , check plugs to determine rejetting and possibly new power valves again , depend on your vacuum and driving habits .
Speedway doesn't sell Stromberg's, they sell problems that look like 97's 1 is good, more is better! My blown flatty has progressive linkage on my trio of 97's. Runs okay on one but when the other 2 kick in you had better be paying attention. ^^^^This
AND after all that is done when you discover they are no better than before send them back to China in the scrap! They are a waste of time and money , you shouldn't have to do any of this with NEW carburetors. Spend the money and get a set of originals rebuilt properly or buy a set of new proper Genuine Stromberg 97s . Buying from Speedway is like buying rotten fruit at half price .
Strombergs (and probably the junky repro 9super7) don't have power valves that blow out like a Chandler Groves does. They have a ball and spring in them that should be reliable, and actually only get activated on full plunge of the top plunger. I doubt that's his problem with the Speedway carbs. If they were my car and parts, I'd steal two of the real Strombergs off the big intake, rebuild them with genuine Stromberg rebuild kits, and put them on the T.
You are correct , I just bought some ebay chinese replacement carb , ford copies , for my 41 and they have the power valve . Just mixing chinese junk , I couldnt afford the speedway version .
