I was so fortunate to be invited to a cruise in car show and shop party last weekend in North Carolina. The event was held in conjunction with a vintage aircraft fly in at Statesville Regional Airport, the hot rod related portion was organized by Ben Haag "hotrodderhaag" and his girl friend Holly Orel. The day started early Sat. morning with a 3 1/2 hour drive from through the beautiful mountains of East Tn. and Western North Carolina in the Y Brock coupe trying to keep up with Mike Barillaro in his wicked deuce 5 window.
Then had a great afternoon viewing some of the coolest hotrods I had seen in a while and also seeing some really cool vintage airplanes. Having the opportunity to get a close look at Ben's fantastic 32 three window "Pale Rider" made my day. Next it was a hotrod caravan to a local Mexican cantina for tacos. Then "the icing on the cake" a shop party at Ben's amazing shop. First thing I see when I walk in is John Suckling's Rolling Bones built 232B roadster, and hotrod coolness from wall to wall. 20210605_131715.jpg 20210605_112605.jpg 20210605_112625.jpg 20210605_112840.jpg 20210605_112747.jpg 20210605_112829.jpg 20210605_112753.jpg 20210605_112854.jpg 20210605_114828.jpg 20210605_141153.jpg 20210605_112809.jpg 20210605_112801.jpg 20210605_210753.jpg 20210605_163314.jpg 20210605_163511.jpg 20210605_174338.jpg 20210605_180054.jpg 20210605_180747.jpg 20210605_180100.jpg 20210605_181036.jpg 20210605_181023.jpg

  13. It was a great time, Ben @hotrodderhaag and Holly are the best of people. Thats a great shot of me sitting on Bens Tire too in the first pic. You should see the big D shapped sunburn still on my forhead from driving my roadster all weekend with my hat backwards!

  14. The shop party was also a sort of reveal for Bens newest venture, Bluefeild Vintage Engine Works. Ben and Holly both are skilled machinists, and Ben knows how to build an engine. I got two slated to go to him to build already!

  16. I saw you drive in and park. Your A sounds really good. I’m pretty much an introvert, so I apologize for not coming over and introducing myself. Next time…
