Hey folks I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question. 1950 Ford custom, the underside of the hood between the rear support and the hood sheet metal what is used for that space? Or to secure?

Marlo: I have a 50 Ford, and lots of us have these cars. But I can't visualize what you're referring to.

A real good one to use, better than what the old OEMs used, is called "Anti-Flutter" foam. Lord Fusor makes it. Not really an adhesive, though it does stick to both panels. More of a cushion/support to kep panels from vibrating and banging together.

Thank you for the info I’ll look that up.

  12. After the rain slowed down this morning I had a look at mine. ;) It looks like a rubber type of material between the hood and support near the center of the hood on both sides of the centerline. About half way from center to the outside edges it disappears and there is nothing between the hood and support.

    I hope this helps.

^^Same here. A picture won't help. A rubbery looking sheet stuff about maybe 3/16" thick.

Different manufacturers, used different materials over the years. Horsehair type stuff, thick seam sealer, rubber type material, woven cloth, sometimes covered with an asphalt type material.
