    @egads Beautiful car!!
So you guys have all seen the movie "return to Macon County", right? So when they're racing the '57 and they flip that little switch under the dash is that sparks that shoot out of the exhaust pipes or maybe pieces of piston rings?! :D
I was 12 when that movie came out and I've been looking for one of those little toggle switches ever since!

With just 6,264 units, the 1957 Nomad was the rarest (least produced) of all tri five passenger cars.

When was the last time you saw a ‘57 Belair radio delete block off? Or chrome w/s trim? A695F8DD-3533-44B2-B6CB-01DF2E7B6F4C.jpeg

Or for that matter, a notched bench seat for Hurst clearance. Think : pre Hurst “C” shifter days.. I‘ll crawl back under my rock , now.

The competition guide mentions the optional heavy duty 3 speed. What gearbox was it?

How about the vacuum ashtray option? It would suck the ash right off you cigarette and eat the butt, too.

There was a collection can under the dash to be emptied later.

  10. My dad's '57.

Radiused rear quarters, Bel Air Sedan, with convertible springs, and a black metallic dash ..... sold in Phoenix Arizona circa 1973 with engine yanked.

Formerly an 8000 rpm, 327, with 12.5:1 compression, and an M22, Olds 4:11 rear.

    Ssgt Gary Campbell.

"Fastest car in the valley". Aviation fuel filled it's tank. Sure would like to find it.

    '57's rule ......

OK, this is mine. Seen before here. Street driven Jr Stock style tribute car.

    Runs 12.80/90's .Best 12.78 @ 104.61

Fun to drive. Drive it to the track and drive it home. I run it through the 2-1/2 out the back Assault turbo mufflers.

Gets a lot of attention and thumbs up. 57 ID 2020.jpg

Pic posted elsewhere already, but this is my '57, was a high school kid's car in the late 70's, also was a 4 door. The kid painted it white over the top of a red paint job (on top of the original coral and white) and bondo'd the back doors shut and shaved the handles, and put 2 door Belair quarter inserts on it. I doubt it fooled anyone. Still has their high school parking lot sticker in the back window.

Apparently even back then 57's were desirable enough to put that effort into what was otherwise a beat up 20 year old 4 door car.

I re-did the 2 door conversion properly with the correct length doors and B pillars but I left (what's left of) the old paint they had applied, other than where I had to touch up the seams.

Here, a 150 two door wagon, tailgate punched for 6 cyl crest. It's following its siblings through the birth canal...
