The dash design and approach is very well thought out, you nailed "The-Look"!

  5. Thanks for the tech tip. I almost always use .035 as well when using the tig to weld sheet metal but I've never tried the drill trick to straighten it out. The car is looking killer!

  6. I would have thought it couldn't be done but the car just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for sharing all the details and photos!

Rolled the car out of the shop to turn it around again and snapped this shot as I was bringing it back in.

Love that dash Paul ! That, or many facets of this build would have sacked Tech-week, if you would have entered. I have a very high quality Bevel square, now I know the full name, thanks to Tman. IMG_7075.JPG

Outstanding work on that dash! Would have a strong candidate for a tech week winner.

Really enjoying the Evolution of Hulking Hotrod going on here...thanks for sharing your admirable skills and vision in Vintage Hotrod aka @Paul style...;)

That 3/4 garage shot is really setting the tone...you have airplane inspiration in this as well with the arsenal of gages...being narrow bodied will help keeping an eye on things...

I guess your painting it green eh?

    The Incredible Hulk...Quoted below...

the character first appeared in the debut issue of The Incredible Hulk (May 1962)...

One more little thing checked off the list.
Made some straps with T bolts to keep the gas tank where it belongs.

In fact there actually is a list now.
So far it's all been in my head, the list being basically: do all the big stuff now, the little stuff will sort itself out later.
Lots to do still and some of the line items are pretty involved but the end is near.. or nearer.

Clean looking straps! I like your lists, some of the line items have more than one step-:)

If I can keep up my turtle's pace it should take about six months to get through that list..

    Crossed one off the list.
Cut out the vertical braces at the rear of the body.
Put some arc to them and welded them back in,
Also bent up some Z metal, put it through the shrinker and stretcher and ran it horizontally behind the braces spot welding it to the body to pull some of the crown out of the back panel.
The leading top edge of the turtle deck is virtually straight and was creating an uneven reveal.
    Much better now.

Now it looks like I am going to redo my column drop. If you keep raising the bar, how will I ever finish?

bolted the turtle deck shell in place,
it is really now just a cosmetic cover to hide the gas tank as there is zero trunk space in it.

I trimmed the edge all the way around and tacked some 1/2" round stock to it to stiffen it up,
welded a 3/8" nut at each corner
cut, drilled and tacked some 1/4" x 1-1/4" flat stock to the frame
    and bolted it down.. up?

the tabs will get fully welded when the frame is on the table
but it's now secured and where it will live.
