Just got back. The swap meet was well laid out. Easy to walk the rows without having to double back like the Big 3 in San Diego. Lots of staff on hand to transport large items or just answer questions. Took me just over 2 hours to walk the entire meet. Seems to me that some stuff was a bit pricey but not all. And its been a while for swap meets so maybe I'm not up to date. I did buy a cool large old red light from a fire truck that I'll use for a third brake light on my '39 p/u and a single California '40 license plate wall hanger for my cousin in PA. And a 8ba 1/2 bell with starter plate, just because the price was right.
Sounds like a good meet, unlucky me got scheduled for OT today. Chapped my ass as I was olanning to get up at 4 am for the swap meet but had to get up at 3 for work! Now post them pics to add to my misery!
I left at 4am and ran into a full freeway night time construction closure just after I go on the freeway. Luckily only took about 10 minutes to get around it. BUT then I ran in to a full freeway closure on the northbound I-5 in the Grapevine due to a spilled load of asphalt. Back up was about a mile which meant a 1/2 hour delay using the detour to get around it. Still got to the meet by 8am. When I drove by the accident site on the way home the freeway was still completely closed northbound and the back up was 7-8 miles. So I guess I shouldn't complain about my delay. No photos of the meet itself. Sorry.
I scored 5 take offs 600-16 www LESTER tires with tubes for $250 I could not get the money out fast enough. Was surprised the 23 T did not sell.
Don't know what the asking price was on the T but from what I've noticed lately the the market for Model T's is down. This one has been for sale on Craigslist for $7500.00 which seems pretty reasonable to me. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/los-alamitos-1926-ford-touring-car/7313982821.html 1926 FORD TOURING CAR - $7,500 (Los Alamitos)
Was hoping that someone would take it over and find a new home for it but nada. Even with the chance of rain the Big 3 was always one of my favorite meets. With no LARS again this year it looks like the next option for me is the Long Beach Model T meet in July. After that there is the Model A meet at the Little League Headquarters in Devore but that's not until September.
I had the first purchase on Thursday late afternoon waiting outside the gates by the picnic area. A decent set of 1915 California plates My customer asked me to look for a pair for the 1915 Model T Roadster I was transporting to him in California from Massachusetts. Jim
