Recent drawings. Done on -site at the shows. I prefer real life to photo- assistance. Three lenses is a crowd.

Great to meet Geoff Pratt and discuss his '70? Shoemaker cackle car w/ iron 392. Nothing new on it.

  10. Thought I'd jump in early tonight as I will be away all day tomorrow on a job. Here is some stuff starting in 1963 and working up.The 57 Olds belonged to a friend of mine and the cutaway was something I always wanted to try. It gave me a healthy respect for the guys who actually do them. The minimalist ones I really enjoyed doing;trying to convey the idea with a minimum amount of lines. The sand rail was painted on the nose of a......sand rail. The 32 3 window is of my friend Tom May's 32 Model B.

    Hello,

We all know that Jack Ewell had a wonderful very early life in all sorts of drag racing in the 1950s. But, our collective minds turn to the 1960 years, when he was the parts manager for Mickey Thompson Enterprises in the Westside of Long Beach, near Lion's Dragstrip. His involvement from that point on goes with his co-workers and teammates from the early days, Bill Stecker and Jim Kamboor. The later 60s shows their collaboration in the top echelon of drag racing.

Back in January’s Friday Art Thread the same team of Ewell, Stecker, and Kamboor had the silver 1934 HAMB Coupe shown as a drawing. That was a mainstay in the early local drag racing scene in the Modified Fuel Coupe Classes.

upload_2021-4-30_3-34-25.png Jack Ewell & Bill Stecker, blown DODGE

San Pedro Muffler (Stecker-Golden-Ewell) ‘34 coupe – This coupe was run by Jack and Bill Stecker with Jack Ewell at the throttle. It had a blown Dodge hemi engine. Bill Stecker is now an active member and past president of the L.A. Roadster Club. Jack Ewell went onto many Top Fuel dragster successes. Manuel Maldonado photo

Perhaps the injected Hemi FED influenced some other racers with their own version of fuel injection.

Something different from the airbrushed pieces that I have offered the last couple weeks. This is a 12x16 backing board covered in pages of a vintage JC WHITNEY catalog. The WILLYS is hand cut from 1/2" MDF and hand painted. Both parts are coated in a self leveling 2 part epoxy, you really cant see the gloss in the first picture so I included a "during" picture. I may do a series of different cars. willys assembled.jpg willys work.jpg

I've been working on this wallet the last few days. It's getting ready for final assembly. 20210427_094950.jpg 20210428_135906.jpg 20210428_140115.jpg

  21. Just found out a short while ago that Mark Kirby of Motor City Flathead and Shadow Rods has passed away. Don't know all the circumstances but Mark had been ill for some time now. May he rest in peace. I thought I would post up a couple pictures of work I had done for him over the years. The black an white picture is a large print Mark gave me the last time he came down to have Paul's 34 coupe lettered. I had lettered that one originally many years ago when he had the shop in Dundee. That is Mark standing behind the car. The last iteration was done a couple years ago.
    Rest in peace amigo! You will be sorely missed. MotorCityFlathead34FordPart2-1.jpg MotorCityFlatheadLogo2 006.jpg MotorCityFlatheadLogo2 007.jpg MotorCityFlatheadLogo2 010.jpg MotorCityFlatheadLogo2 012.jpg MotorCityFlatheadLogo2 014.jpg
