On their way to a picnic at the lake, the Cleavers were in a car with tail fins. What is it? Doesn't look like same car they arrived at the lake with.

It was a Mopar, it broke down and they ended up renting that ugly 61 Plymouth to finish the trip.

  3. The in car photo's were most likely in last years prop car - and the road picture was the latest offering by Mopar.

Mrs Cleaver, 'You know Ward you were awfully hard on the beaver last night."
My favorite line from the show.

My wife just got done watching all the episodes. The car you mention is a prop. No dash, of coarse. It looks like a 59 Imperial. 4-dr hardtop. My favorite line is , Hey Beave, want another chunk of milk. It seems the kids were scared to death of their dad. He did raise his voice a bit for TV back then. Every episode. Liked the monster shirt episode the best. Google it.

This was the show that set the tone in my family, whatever Beaver did, we did. For example ordering a bunch of chicken to have delivered to the guy across the street, making up wild stories for school reports, and so on. This show was a good example of how to bring up kids without spanking them (I don't think that my parents watch enough). At the end of the day, most of the kid actors became member's of some National Guard units ( I know the reason for that, but still they step forward).

Ha, no dash, didn't notice that! Eh, who needs one anyway, got the steering wheel, that's the important part.:)

But I noticed the tail fin!

On a side note, in some of the opening sequences when they are all loading into the car getting
ready to back out, when Beaver looks back at the camera you'll notice that there is no back window glass.

    Hahahahahaha...
There's almost nowhere else I could hang out with people who know right off the bat who the heck "Ward" is.
    AND what he drives.
    LOL

Damn straight. Won't find this kind of knowledge on the Nuclear Physicist forum.

Here's a little test for anyone needing to bone up on the Cleaver pals.

I was a big fan, back in the day, and that show & all of those other similar shows must have had contracts with different car companies throughout the years, except when it came time for Wally to acquire an "old" hot rod.

He was kind of a dick in the show. Went on to be an LAPD motor officer. Don't know if there was a correlation or not. Died in 2020.

    Yeah, him too. LOL
Quick story about Burt Ward. (Robin)
I'm the oldest of a bunch of kids. 1966, sitting on the floor in front of the black and white TV, the first evening that Batman aired.
A few minutes into the first episode, one of my younger brothers asks...
"If that's Batman... what's the other guy's name?"
I replied in all my wisdom...
    "That's Bat Boy!"
    My brother said...
"Then why does he have an R on his vest?"
It was about then that I realized I might no longer be the smartest kid in our family simply by virtue of my age.

I got all 10! Funny that I can remember tv shows from way over 50 years ago but have to look for half an hour for a wrench in my pocket:rolleyes:

Did you see where Whitey and Tooey were brothers in real life? Tooey fared well, Whitey not some much, dead at 53.

Chip and Ernie were also real life brothers, the Douglas family however preferring Ponchos to Mopars.

Mr. Martin (Lassie) was a Mopar man, too.

Lumpy (Frank Bank) was a hot rodder in real life and persuaded the tv company to use some of the real hot rods in the show. there was a post on here years ago about it, I believe he was a member of a big car club in LA.

The Cleavers were not totally Mopar people. I seem to recall an eisode where Wally damaged the family car, at that point, a 65 Riviera.

Well, I'll bet he wasn't too popular a member when that mean ol' Eddie Haskell jerked the rear end out from under 'his' '40 ragtop with Ward Cleaver's chain!!!

Ya think George Lucas paid anything to use that later, or was it 'public knowledge' by then? :)
