I need to see a picture of others with 2 carbs ,or 3 carbs that have the offset gen mount. Mine has a gen delete, needs parts to complete, and a left side gen mount on a 8cm eng. It has been converted to truck pumps and a 48 style dist dist. I will have the fan mounted on the gen delete. Thanks , jim
I'm running a dual carb Offenhauser intake and a pair of Holley 94's and that is plenty of CFM for a flathead, 3 two's is overkill for a street car. The Offenhauser allows you to run the generator in the stock position and I'm running a 37 pulley and fan on my 12 volt generator.
View attachment 5005998 48, probably won't help but here are a couple of my 3 two set up with an alternator .tried to delete duplicate pictures , sorry
I run my fake gen/alt off the left head on a Navarro bracket. I don't run run hood sides or this would require a blister on my 34. Easy belt adjustment and super clean install.
Why come I never see any 'flatties' with a 4 barrel carb?? Is the valley too narrow? 6sally6 I guess you can tell........I ain't 'all-that-sporty-' when it comes to flat heads. 6sally6
Cuz they is ugly! A guy on here was trying to put a quadratoilet on a flatty but not sure if i ever saw that thread wrap up successufully. It's like putting Hoss's 10 gallon hat on Little Joe, Hop Sing be like "yu rook redicurous!"
3 carbs are useless on a flathead Ford motor. On a bigger V8 they work, like a 389 Pontiac or a big block Chev or Mopar. But on a flathead way over carbed.
Billy Bandit pretty well nailed it. The general consensus is that they are ugly. Most of the guys that run one use a WCFB off a 265 or 283 Chevy. I'm thinking that is what the Offy 4 barrel intake was designed for.
I run a WCFB 4bbl carb on my 286 flatty in my '40 Std Tudor. Been on there for many years and works great. Dave
@6sally6 A bit over a decade ago I built a ‘53 Merc for a ‘47 Ford Coupe and among many mods, used a Holley 390 cfm on an Offenhauser manifold. Of course it’s just an opinion, but I didn’t think it was ‘ugly’, but it sure was functional. Ray
48Fordnut Looking at your pictures brings up some questions. With your set up, will the belts line up with the pulleys? What are you using for the crank pulley? Will your fan be to high? To make room for the left hand side water outlet, you will also need to fab some spacers and use longer head bolts for the generator mount.
Thanks for the input. 1 belts line up, 2. single pulley, 3 Alumn heads are thicker than stock and have spacers set up in case . 4, To be determined. You have brought up good ? and I hope I am on the way to resolving them. The pics do help.
I think Speedway sells a cylinder head water outlet that changes the direction to a more straight up hose connection. You will need one of those to clear the gen. Just curious, why use the 48 style distributor and not the 8ba side mount?
I have the outlets. I like the crab style. The block is a 8cm that I converted to a 59a cam ,ft cover ,intake, and dist.
