I’m using a “59 Imperial grill in my ‘52 DeSoto. Partly because I have never liked a ‘49 Merc grill, and partly (mostly) becauthe hideous teeth were pitted so badly they couldn’t be plated. My solution was in the DeSoto’s original parking lamp bezels, which have (almost) the same peak as the center of the Imperial grill bar. I made a simple stainless back/housing. The resulting makes a nice finial to the blunt ended grill, and fills the opening. I think it works. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
It will, after I make the trim over the cut-off ends of the bezels. It needs a lip to hold the lens in. So, I'm not quite DONE.
To me, that’s what a custom is all about, taking parts from other cars and making them look like they came on that car. That’s what I look for, the little details instead of too much chops and trying to make one brand look like another one. Keep up the good work, I’m enjoying seeing this one come together.
