There are no new colors--just new names for them. Back in the late '70s and early '80s, Ford had a pale yellow color. I had a '78 Granada that color and my parents had an '81 LTD. Great car this time of year because the pine pollen didn't show since the car was the color of pollen. That paint was a dead-on perfect match for a color that was used for wheels and pinstriping on Model A's. The paint on my truck was a '92 Geo color they called competition blue, but it matches a blue Ford had in '42.
Like traditional "British Racing Green" there is also "American Racing Grey" [AKA: Primer] This was the traditional paint scheme of street racers and DIY racers .
That's one serious looking, no fooling around, let's get down to business truck. It would be a long haul for you, but it would look right at home at the Harvester Homecoming show here in Fort Wayne.
Would you be able to offer up a formula for Tunis gray? Thanks...jim Sent from my XT1710-02 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I don’t have one, but if you call Jim Barillaro at Barillaro Speed Emporium in Knoxville, he may have it. He painted his resurrected Pete Eastwood roadster in that color. 865-805-9381. They stay busy, might have to leave a msg. PaintRef.com shows IM180 for Ditzler/PPG
We used BESA Urki-Nato Satin RAL code A2212 Gray (Elkhart Sage our name for it) for the coupe. A satin Urethane industrial paint. Similar colour to PPG primer. The RAL code is a European code used for paint and powder coats and easy to match by any paint shop. Looks darker and greener if not in direct sunlight.
