I recently drove my 1950 Pontiac project for the first time. It last moved under its own power about 50 years ago. While it's not a big deal to some on here it meant a lot to this 70 year old man! https://studio.youtube.com/video/XijMg8Ns1Ew/edit
Not having a U-tube acct I can't see it but I'm sure there was a huge amount of tire smoke, blower belt noise and women and children scattering.
Did you hear it burn rubber when it hit the concrete driveway?! That's what 108 hp will do! And, it didn't smoke! Original straight 8 and 3 speed on the column. I can't wait to get floor pans in it!
You have a great looking car there. Thanks for sharing the video and continue to share updates on your car. I was involuntarily introduced to computers a while ago but I am going to have to pick up my game to stay ahead of my grandson. The rascal is barely 2-1/2 and the wife bought him a child's rubber encased I-pad. It just is crazy how he flips through the pages and drills down to the games he wants to play or the kids show he wants to watch. We limit his time on it but my wife would set it up for him to watch while on the potty. Diapers to underwear in a week. Not much going on with the covid so playing a lot with the grandson. He loves the snow so I made a small hill for him to slide across the backyard. I am flopping in the snow with him making snow angels. We play a lot . A 70 yr old in his second childhood.
Good gracious! What a menagerie of animal sounds on the video......sounds like my place. Congrats on getting the ol' poncho mobile. I am soooooooo jealous. My 50 sits in the garage with 2 flat tires, hood up and waiting for some attention. Temps suppose to be warmer in the coming days so maybe I'll be able to ad my own first drive" video.
Congrats @fyrffytr1 on the Milestone and thanks for the grass sighting...spring is finally in the air...
Thanks for all the replies. Being an old man with very little mechanical skill I am happy with what I have accomplished so far.
Being even more geezerly (older than you I understand fully when you can get something to run that hasn't moved on it's own for years. Congrats, it looks pretty sharp, those fastback Pontiac's were alright
That's a HUGE deal! Congrats! A fastback, too! You chirped your tires. LOL. Years ago, when I first got my 1952 Chevy Styleline 2dr, a local old-timer I know (Cal) helped me install another 216 engine. I guess he saw me chirping my tires around town. He said to me... "Next time I see you chirping your tires, I'm gonna chirp your head!" I won't let Cal see your video.
