Technical 1939/40 Side moulding

I have a 1940 ford coupe and I am thinking I would like to install 1939 Deluxe coupe side moulding and door handles on it. Just wondering if this is a fairly straight forward job. I realize the body dimensions are the same But not sure of hole spacing and amount of holes etc. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

 

outside Door handles are different for a 39 vs 40. 39's bolt with 2 screws from the outside and 40's use 1 from inside the inner door frame trim should be OK but the door handles are a problem (ask me how I know!)

 

Is your 40 a std or deluxe?

 

The 39 Deluxe and 40 Standard beltline trim should interchange. The handles not without some cutting and welding.

 

I would recommend switching the trim but not the door handles.

 

I have 39 trim on my 40 coupe. everything works with my standard hood. Not so on a deluxe hood.

 

Thank you for all the responses. I forgot to mention it in the original post but my coupe is a standard. I knew I was going to have to do a little modification on the doors to install the 39 handles. I started calling around to find new 39 trim and found out that me be harder to find than I thought.

 

were there any 40 outside door handles that were smooth likethe 39 handles? Thank you in advance.

 

40 handles are all the same. You can look at my albums photos to see how 40 handles look with 39 trim. Thy look fine to me.

 

In high school I had a '39 DeLuxe Coupe with '40 trim, hood and headlights.
