I know there are lots of awesome metal workshops and training by some awesome shops out there. Are there any places where a hobbyist could learn beginning upholstery?
I have just started the upholstery in my 46. I watch lots of videos on Youtube. There are hundreds of them. I also get instructions from my wife. She can upholster anything. I bought a Sailrite machine and got started a week ago. Not got nerve up to start on seats yet, but going to give it a go. Going to get a bucket seat from salvage and start with it.
Thanks! I got a Sailrite too and have been watching the The Lucky Needle courses. Guess I just need to try it! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Go down to an upholstery shop and ask if you can sweep the floor and learn. That's the way it was done in a lot of garages to learn mechanics or body work.
So far I have done carpet front and back with binding, and the door panels. I used a combination of flat, tuck and roll with carpet at the bottom where it will get scuffed. Easier than I thought it would be.
You might check with your local Community College. However, with Covid they may not be doing hands-on type courses.
