Forgive a new guy, I never realized this forum was for late 50s stuff as well as the traditional 1930s roadsters.

Found a bunch of Fords rotting in an asphalt floor'd pole barn a few years ago. Owner didnt want to part with any, but I talked him into the '59 Galaxie 500. These were all sedans, unfortunately. But with a young family, that didnt bother me.

If you have any pictured of this generation of Ford post it up!

    Here is mine.

Man that's a nice 59 you have there!
I've got one very similar in the process of making it a mild custom, but currently side tracked by a 65 Rambler! Lol!

Are you shaving much other than the door handles? Looks great!

I wanted to keep a stock appearance, with only a few improvements that are not seen.

I had a solid frame, but quite a bit of floor rot due to where it was kept. The leading edge of the hood was mostly gone as well.

Yep I shaved all the emblems as well as the handles.
It's also sitting on air ride and has a 390fe/c6 in it...
Mine started out pretty solid floor wise but, I did have to replace both rockers and one quarter...
It's been a looooong project that I might actually finish someday!
Here's a picture before I blew it all apart.
It's the green one! Lol! Screenshot_2016-04-10-13-47-37.jpeg

Wow @KandN Kustoms your green one looks so tall.

The slammed yellow one makes me want to bag mine!

Mine was all green originally, it was StyleTone'd with white in the mid 80s by the PO. He drove it until 1999, when it went to the pole barn.

What front bumpers are the light green and rusty yellow Kustoms running?

Yeah I was messing with the bags when the pic was taken.......
Mine lays out like the yellow one!
    Funny story about that pic.
It was taken at one of the last hundred car pileups.
Wife and I went and were talking about how there were probably not going to be any other 59s there "this was before they started getting popular ".
Then the morning of the show we showed up early to get in line and low and behold we pull in right behind the yellow one!
Got parked next to them and even left the show at the same time! Lol! "Which is when the pic was taken "
We also ran into them all weekend too!
It was kind of funny, everyone assumed we were together but we didn't even know them.
Although they were nice but I never did catch their names.

Cool thread. In 1966 I found a 59 4 door ex Michigan state police car with a 352 interceptor. Wasn't a drag car , but on top end it would roll. Great car.

Mine is 352 2bbl with a 2.91 gear... Was originally a 2 speed slushbox (where the 2.91 came from). It now has a 3 speed toploader on the column.

I was actually surprised with that combo how well it rolls. I'm determined to put an overdrive in it this winter. I'll post that project when I get the trans out.

I live in rural country and put a few thousand miles a summer on it. I'd like better than 13 mpg and 2200 rpm at 60mph.

  15. My low mile Virgin. Needs a Watson style paint job and a set of Astro Supremes, I just don't have the hart to do it. It needs a new home instead.

  18. Don't know for sure but looks like a 58 or 59 Chrysler to me.

  19. '57 DeSoto... Similar to the Chrysler, but not quite the same.

This is one reason you don't see DeSoto's much anymore.... everybody stole parts off them... LOLOL

I was lucky enough to get that one from the original owners- the gal I got it from rode home in it with her dad when he bought it in the fall of 56. They used to go camping with it, and she and her husband went on their honeymoon in it. Still has it's running 223/ 3spd

  22. Ya, it's is pretty nice. It does have a couple blems but nothing worth messing with. This is exactly what most cars Larry was doing overlays on looked like in his day. Some right off the Show Room floors. Here's an inside shot of the factory 3 tone upholstery. It still wares the stock carpet and doesn't have a heal mark at the Go pedal. To nice a Car for me. Now if it was a 57 Hardtop (or courier) I would have already have Molested it.
