Projects 32 Sedan Lakester roof chop

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by the metalsurgeon, Jul 16, 2014.

  1. Frame is pinched and bobbed, it uses a super flat Model A style crossmember. Spring will be reverse eyed, but over the axle not behind like Rolling Bones. Using split wishbones, with Houdaille shocks, not sure if they will be mounted inboard or not. Gary Maxwell (Blackboard Hotrods) is doing the chassis.

  2. Sounds very interesting and I sure would love seeing some photos when you get it done. I am building a bones style 3 window and frame, but doing the spring behind the axle like the bones do.
    Thanks for the reply.

Don't know how I missed this thread! Fantastic job. Jon, I'm Rog W's friend from England, glad he told me to look for this build. It's an education.

    Mart.

  6. Cool, I'll keep an eye out for progress on your coupe...the "engineers" down here who do the licensing had kittens when I told them I wanted to weld the spring perches to the wishbones. They weren't completely convinced about split bones either .

Very excellent work on the flow fit and finish. The job opportunity is tempting but not sure I want to move to Denver.

Post #196 asked about "draw filling".
Your Post #199 showed the position of the file but didn't explain.
To draw file a regular file is held perpendicular and moved sideways across the metal to show highs and lows.
Your metalwork is extraordinary. The picture taking is the work of a true teacher. Thank you for sharing both.

Yes, I would be interested to hear and see what happening also.

  22. Hey All.....sadly there is little to update on this build. Although my wallet is still hemorrhaging, ive had a friend build a 390 Caddy for the sedan, as well as having a T5 put together for it. In the mean time we've recently finished building a house, and once my obligations are fulfilled ill be back onto my projects. Im going to put together a 32 pickup before i finish the sedan. If time allows, chopped, channeled hi boy, swept and z'd, 302w/c4 with 3 x 2 intake, along the lines of Jeff Norwell's pickup. Cant believe where the time goes.....
