Bakersfield 2018 including our own bchctybob. Couple of these just a bit of tire bulge/tread protruding. I did not make CHRR 2017 reunion so no photos, I was about two months in on a hip replacement and wasn't quiet up to it. But never fear my fine "friends" who did go spent plenty of time busting my balls via the text machine for not being there ! DSC01527.JPG DSC01538.JPG DSC01551.JPG DSC01528.JPG

  12. This is the mock up I did, on what I had planned for it. 327, Muncie, 9”. Same kind f theme the car had going for it I’m not 100% I’m going to sell it, but between this and a 32 5W project about the same shape...it’s hard to justify both

It's a good angle on this A, for sure.

This car is named the Freakin' A. It was built Ryan Hartman, who actually did my chassis, too. This car has a similar, but unfinished, chassis to mine.

Here's my car (no name on that one) and the Freakin' A this past summer... both hanging some rear tires.

    Hello,

There were several reasons for the larger/wider M&H racing slicks on those early Gas Coupes and Sedans. One: to get better traction from the powerful motors and two: to make sure the smoke funnels outside and to the rear of the race car. Actually, it was just a side effect of the wider slicks sticking outside of the stock, then modified fender cut outs.

In 1964, I was invited to an All Gas Coupe and Sedan Drag Race Meet at Lion’s Dragstrip. It was a different look since the last time we attended a drag race in 1960. The cars were slightly advanced in their builds, the technology was a lot better and the race cars were stunning. The top racers were all in attendance from all over the western states. The So Cal locals put on quite a show for everyone.
The majority were using M&H wide slicks as their choice of rear slicks.
