I was told this car came out of New Mexico and it was built in 1949/50. All parts and date codes confirm the time frame. Has anyone seen it before and maybe have any thoughts on who built it? It was probably gray 70 years ago. I'm going through it now to clean it up but I'm trying to preserve it as it was.
Anyone besides me see the elephant in the room? HRP The car looks good the nose looks like it was originally on the airplane in you avatar, it's just out of place IMHO. HRP
Yup, the boys channeled the car and the radiator sits way too high. I've dropped it to get the proportions right but I am impressed at what they could do with a hacksaw, gas welding, some lead and a few old parts.
Finally got it all back together. I dropped the radiator down and cleaned up a few brackets but other than that I just rebuilt what was there. I've got her running and just working out the last few kinks but im happy to have it going.
Thanks, A friend had several old Western Auto type seat covers that I was able to cut up and another friend sewed it all up for me.
Yes Sir you definitely helped the look of the nose on it. In such a short time the work you did is great.
Very impressive. I was having trouble picturing that nose as a finished product but it turned out well.
That is bad ass!! I love the interior!! I usually do not like channeled A's, but that one looks good. What is the powerplant? Please give us some details.
I like your Model A but if you ever decide that the El Camino is taking up too much space, I could probably find room for it in my garage and I wouldn't even charge you anything for my time and gas
Thanks all and I agree that it may never be the most beautiful car ever but it was a real 70 year old hot rod that I put back together and kept most of it original except the grill height. I like the original early hot rods better and appreciate the craftsmanship and resourcefulness they had. The engine is the original A motor. Its got a high compression head and a B cam, Burns intake with a pair of 97's, cyclone V8 water pump adapter, jeep distributor and a Massey Ferguson fan assembly. The trans is stock with a V8 clutch, brakes are 40 backing plates with 36 drums.
