I'm looking for someone from the Petersburg, Illinois area that might be able to help me. I'm looking to have a grill picked up and shipped out to me in Washington State.

FedEx, UPS, Greyhound are the likely suspects. It would be expensive to use LTL.
However it goes you best have it in a stout carton.

The seller doesn't currently want to deal with boxing/crating it so I'm looking for someone who might be willing to do that for me

  4. so who ever you bought this grille from wasn't willing to ship it ? Did you ever suggest taking it to UPS store( if one is near by) .. offer to pay for their boxing service and insure it..

Sounds like they don't want to sell it bad enough.

With all respect, this was not listed for sale, but a fellow HAMBer reached out to me as I was looking for one. He has offered to sell this to me from his personal collection. For his own reasons he does not wish to deal with crating it up and what not. I am just so thrilled that he's willing to help out that I'm not going to question why. Just hoping someone can help out.

Maybe add the location where the grill is at, might catch some attention?

I agree, but they may be totally clueless and only able to fold money or cash money orders. Personally I'm real good at boxing stuff and take pride in it, everything that leaves here is boxed as if I was going to receive it. By the way what is the OP grille from ? Bob

See, I opened the thread thinking it was a “what’s the best way to ship” thing.
    Good luck

Yep. That's it. Here's what I'm needing it for. Collecting parts for this. Body is now sitting on a frame and I have a good passenger door. Still a ways to go. Screenshot_20180204-222159.png

A nice offer of help. I'll second the Be careful advice. Hopefully, a fellow HAMBer is okay, but there are 1 day HAMBers and HAMBers with 50,000 posts. I'd still be careful.

Sticking my nose into this...... the area code shown in the above post (417) is for the Springfield, MISSOURI area. The correct area code for Petersburg and Springfield ILLINOIS is (217).

Probably a typo, but needs clarification.

Ray, ya can't go by area codes since a lot of folks don't have land lines anymore.. My son moved to New York and took his Kansas homed cell phone along. He's got an area code 913 number in New York. And I have a South Dakota area code number in Kansas.

After living in Springfield Missouri for 21 years I kept my same cell number to allow anyone to reach me. Gave up my house phone this year. Scott could check my HAMB postings from my 14 years on HAMB.

    Happy New Year!!

I am well aware of the fact that many people have ‘legacy’ area codes for the reasons stated, having family and friends who have them. I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. ;)

You will kindly note, I did NOT make any accusations, merely pointed out the potential error, given the ease with which such a typo could have occurred with only one digit difference. I was also mindful it could have been correct as typed, but thought worth mentioning.......though not thinking it would start a ****storm.
    Happy New Year to All!

Wow!@basicbob. Thanks for your offer and thanks everyone else for all your help. The seller was able to crate it and hopefully all will work out. It's a fellow HAMBer and been around more than a few years.
