Another sad story of 2020. Hope and Pray for a Better New Year!

  6. Sad to see them closing but better than selling to some corporation that would let the quality go down the drain and destroy the legacy of a good product.

This has been a very hard year for many businesses.
It is very sad when a family owned business with such a long history locks the door for the last time.
They will be missed by many of us who have used their radiators over the years.
Quality radiators will be harder to find in the near future.

  8. Total drag, I was waiting for my radiator to fail so I could justify ordering a custom one from them but I slept on it too long. Never thought this would happen.

That may take a while to come out but the age of the family members who were running it, lack of any family member to take it over and maybe no one offering up the coin to buy the company and take it over may have a lot to do with it.

I know of at least three local businesses that have closed their doors around here after long and very successful runs because the owners were well past retirement age and there were no family members who were capable of taking them over and no one one who came up with the cash to buy the company in the last instance. His was the regional go to auto electric and starter/generator /alternator shop that did a lot of old car business.

The same thing that closes any business, economics! If it was making mad bank, it would stay open! Capitalism 101.

I see where Johnson's Hot Rod Shop acquired all of the tooling, equipment and proprietary manufacturing information from Walker Radiator in June/July 2021, with a comment that it would take them awhile to start up production. No news since then. I hope that happens and they are able to duplicate Walker's quality. I've used Walker's in both of my hot rods, with the '34 going back to the early '80's, and they were good stuff.
