History Show us your YOM license plate and the ride it's attached to.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Dec 9, 2020.

  1. It took many years for hot rodders, restorers, clubs & organizations continually petitioning the South Carolina DMV to allow car enthusiast to use Year of Manufacture license plates, finally they relented and figured a way to make money of the people that had the desire to purchase a YOM license plate and go through the process involved.

I realize not all states offer this unique option but if your state does please post a photo of your YOM plate and the car or truck it's attached to. HRP

  3. This one is on my 1955 T-Bird. WV had no 1955 plates due to the DMV changeover that year so while it says 1954 it was the only plate available in 1955 in WV. 100_0301.JPG

I have a '66 Minnesota plate with a '67 sticker on my '67 Corvette, and it was a bugger to find. Unfortunately, it's O/T, so I can't show it.

I also had a set of the long, narrow Minnesota plates on my '36 3-Window a few years back. Every time I got out of the car in the garage, the plates would catch on my pant leg and bend. I don't have those any more either. I guess I'm useless, but I had fun posting.:)

  9. I have YOM tags on my Rods now. But I'll need to take some current photos, and then post them. Here's an old photo of a personal tag. Sorry for the bad photo as it was raining hard. I hit the water too fast, and drowned out the old 389! lol:confused: The tag is same as the one on my avatar. { LO UFO } 155.jpg 2147.jpg

Here’s mine. Told Mrs Avater I bought the plate because it reminded me of her. Folks at DMV struggled with how to register the car even after I filled out their “YOM form”. Watched the registry clerk go from cubicle to cubicle for 45 minutes until they figured it out.

  11. Posted this in another thread that may have helped prompt this one. Looking to register about 3 more YOM tags soon as well.

My original unused 1930 plate, that came in the original unissued envelope. It was a pretty cool find by my wife.

Here's mine although it hasn't been registered with the government yet. On a related matter, I have yellow and black Alberta antique plates registered to me for my '47 Plymouth that I have never run on the car. They must be over 40 years old now, so my antique plates ARE antique plates!

Here is a pic of mine. Found it on eBay and restored it. It's always interesting to me that folks putting a picture of their car up for sale somewhere cover the plate. Whats up with that? Do they drive around with the plate covered so nobody can see it? Whats the big deal?

The 39 sedan I had about 15 years ago (12,000 actual miles) and the 39 plate that I cut and shortened to 4 digits, sold the car before I got to register the plate to it
