Technical 1953 plymouth stock steel wheel width

    I had no luck on the mopar forums.. I'm just trying to find out the width of a stock(factory) steel wheel.. I think it's either 4 1/2' or 5" but I need to know because I want to buy new wheels to run dog dish caps but want the same width as originals.. Thanks for any help on this not very popular car..... I have tires on my original wheels but when I try to measure, I come up with 4 3/4" and I really don't want to demount one......

    Just found some on ebay that were 4.5" wide, that's all I got!

    Well, I posted a response to this question quoted direct from a Hollander entry. Solid info. Guess you don't believe the manual.

    Thanks KenC, I just reread your post on the P15-D24 site and want to say thank you for the info.. I don't know how I miss it the first time I read it..... Thanks catdad, I found them on eBay too....

    Now I just have to find 4 Ford 15" x 4 1/2" wide steel wheels that take 10 1/4" dog dish caps......
