New Summit lifters. On the limiter quite a few times but only for a few seconds. Engine is apart now but springs were never in coil bind. Also intake lift was .022" less and lobes on both sides just as bad.

  3. I wish it was a press in stud. But they are screw in studs.

  4. upon further inspection of old photos. The head do have press in studs. Maybe I’m good!!

I've had studs pull out on Pontiac heads and it acts just like a lobe went bad.. Make sure its not the stud but I hope it is!!

Seems most can failures we hear about are Chevy motors , I know there's folks using Chrysler , ford , olds ,caddy , Buick etc. Motors on here , are they experiencing the same difficulties ??

Hope it's just a stud pulling out--Have seen quite a few do that years ago-quick fix-drove back down and pinned. Put a lot of 097 cams or copies in early 283's and 327's with no issues over the years-3 in the last two years in 327's-had good luck with Elgin
Used to pin the stud too years ago.

Pontiacs are going through the same thing. Don't even put a Comp XE Series cam next to a Pontiac block it will grind itself away.. Crowers seem to work well in Pontiacs..

If the stud has pulled out some it should be up higher than the others across the top. Lay a straightedge across them and you should be able to tell if the loose one stands up above the rest.
