Features Corvette hot rods - picture thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by KING CHASSIS, Jan 1, 2011.

  1. years ago the 57 had a 67 vette scoop with a hole cut in that for the carb to stick thru, it had a little B&M blower. I don't want to go that route now, but i could use a little more clearance to open up the options intake/breather wise. I wish I had that hood now but it's on Jim Hayes's 56 with hilborn stacks up thru the hole.

Since we are posing pictures of our choices, here's mine. A 67 427 scoop on top of a 69 L-88 scoop with spears/rockets removed. Very low profile but room for a high rise and air cleaner. I really wish I had that car back.

    Yep, that's the ticket upload_2020-10-1_18-22-39.png

    Is that a 348 or a 409?

    upload_2020-10-1_18-26-3.png

What kind of weight difference is there between the W block and Hemi?

  14. 340hp 409, I sold it to Jim Hayes who owns the red 56 a few posts ago^^^^. I’m not sure about the weight difference, the hemi is a lot lighter than it was when it was in the chrysler.

Deuces I don't know about that, it's the same paint taken by two different cameras. The second picture is a more accurate description of the color.

Swade41, what is the story accompanying the car as it sits today. The car had a flip front clip but eventually became a funny car with the whole body lifting as a real funny car. I have a note that the car was destroyed in a racing accident. Is this an earlier car? or rebuilt? in some form?

  21. I think it's an earlier car with parts off of the flip top from my understanding, I didn't make the picnic this year. The whole thing is kind of confusing, it was explained to me once the door car morphed into the flip top over time, this was described as his old race car put back on the street.
All I know is that it has a blown big block with mechanical injection that he drove to the picnic site, the video I was sent last year of it running makes me think it's not detuned to much...lol I'm friends with his son on Facebook and occasionally he would post tidbits of it.

Hey c1/c2 guy, I tried to send you the build specs on building a competitive C1 drag car through a PM. Pretty sure it did not go through. Let me know if you got it or not. If you still want the info, Email at [email protected]
Much easier to post pictures of that information. Jim
