Stan, no doubt. Used to flat tow my '69 Nova SS, to Thompson Dragway, with my shop truck. It was a 1985 S-10 2.8v-6 4 speed extra cab. Despite some of the hills, out in those parts, it did a great job. Just don't try and stop too quick. Yikes!!! A trailer was kind of out of the question for that rig. Ask me how I know?? Hence the A-frame tow bar. JT
Cool stuff thanks for posting....about the wierdest is that 1962 Chevy wagon towing the 1962 or 63 wagon ?
Right topic..... wrong year car.... still do... and 99% of the guys in our class have enclosed trailers. PS: the mirror is my 56 Vic.. you can see by the reflection.
My brother ran an X/FD in 63-64 and used a tilt trailer he bought and widened the rear, loaded the car backwards. Had plywood sides and a canvas tarp top. Towed it with the Buick hearse in the background of the car launching, made a good tow car, plenty of power and storage in the back.
Yup, tow bar for me. “Race car in Tow” Written in shoe-polish on the rear window. Down the freeway through LA traffic we went. Why spend $$$ on a trailer when you can spend it on busted parts instead. cool video though
Dammit Man Forgot all about the shoe polish Actually drove to High School with it still on front and back windows Badge of honor you know Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
"Actually drove to High School with it still on front and back windows – Badge of Honor you know" At the early Colton drags, most cars had shoe polish numbers. They'd wipe your number off when you lost. We always wanted them to leave most of it on – Still honorable as a drag raced car.
