Updated 08/20 scroll down Searched the topic here. mostly outdated threads I'm looking for a set of 175/80 13 inch tires for my 63 Falcon. Anyone have a reasonably priced source? So far I've found Walmart (Milestar $53.00) and Coker (Maxxix 96.00). Any others?
"There is no such thing as a free lunch".....or "free shipping". If the shipping isn't added on, it's built into the price structure. Ray
https://www.performanceplustire.com/products/ts:175-80-13:ty:Tire/ I've never used this Brand, but I buy a lot of Product from these guys.
Isn't $ 53.00 each a reasonable enough price for you ? And Wal-Marts are all over the place. I wanted new tires for my roadster, and I was happy to find a set of 4 for about $ 700.00, and I considered that price reasonable.
Yeah $53.00 is reasonable enough. I was a little concerned about the quality though. That said I did go ahead and ordered a set from Walmart online. Free shipping to the store takes a few days.
I would have taken this opportunity to upgrade to at least a 14 if not 15 with some bigger wheels, and tires, but thats me, different strokes I guess
Yeah, I thought about that, but it would have meant getting new wheels and hubcaps. Could maybe have skipped the caps if I went for chrome wheels. But that all adds extra money.
Los Angeles Craigslist. Try to stay away from milestars they always turn brown and as much as you try you won’t ever get them white again.
Well that certainly turned out to be the case. Didn't look to bad last year, but pretty noticeable browning this year. How to get rid of the browning is the question.
You could try norms tire in Roseville mn they do a lot of hot rods and customs. To get rid of the brown try white wall wash, not as good as it used to be but I would still try it
I'd like to find 2 about $40 each shipped 185-75 14R, sorry but $50 each shipped would be way to high 4 me. Even black wall OK My fronts are about gone again.
I tried Norm's when I bout these tires 2 years ago, no luck. That could have changed, but these tires have very few miles on them, so if I can clean them up I'd like to. I searched for how to clean the browning off, but I'm wondering if there's any more recent experience.
I just use some sandpaper to get them white again usally 120 grit and them protect them with some vinylshine. Looks like new afterwards.
I’m afraid the market for 13” tires, and particularly whitewalls, has pretty much bottomed out...along with the quality. You might find the upgrade to 14 or 15” wheels to be the only solution to getting closer to quality tires...and that’s probably a bit iffy too. Like it or not we are dinosaurs and feed is hard to find.
