One on C.L. here priced right. Back of my brain says something odd about the rear end on these. Anybody have knowledge on the set-up? Quick google came up empty.

'64 just has a regular 8.2" 10 bolt rear, open driveshaft. '63 was the last year of the whacky transaxle/rope drive deal. '64 Tempest is very similar to a '64 Chevelle/Malibu, only with Pontiac bodywork and drivetrain.
Yup. The transaxle, flex driveshaft and half-a-389 slant four engine were gone. The performance GTO was a Tempest model.
Pontiac had a lot of trouble with the timing chains in them. Back in 62 or so I pulled the Olds V8 from my 32 5W and put a 4cyl Tempest in it, mated to a 39 trans, taxi clutch, optional 4 bbl manifold and a Cadillac 4 bbl from the back of the parts room. It ran almost as good as the Olds. Later put the Olds back in. Paul in CT
Good, be the same as the 64 Skylark I had not too long ago, I used a lot of Chevelle parts in her. Now the question is which wins out , the 18 year old brain or the almost 75 year body. Thanks guys.
I had big dreams for mine but i sold it to help pay for my daughter's wedding. She got divorced, I feel ripped off!
