Recently I found this 27 drawer Dorman Hardware cabinet. Like many products from the past the quality and attention to detail is something to be admired. Apparently these old cabinets have quite the following from collectors. I was happy to make this one mine. Perhaps some of you remember this style Dorman from your childhood. I was not familiar with these and only recently saw one for the first time as these were well before my time. I thought I would share some photos; if nothing else they are cool to look at like a piece of art.
Thank you @37hotrod not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I suppose I could fill the bins with hardware, but most likely retire it as a hardware cabinet and just have it on display in my garage.
I worked in auto parts stores from the late 60's through the early 90's. Those Dorman cabinet assortments were great. Dorman always made quality products and their coverage was second to none. Those metal cabinets sure beat hell out of the cheap cardboard boxes used today!
Nice! I had some of those at one point but I'm not sure what became of them. They were a great design and expandable to whatever your need. Lou
Just sold these heavy duty Dorman stackable cabinets a week or so ago on local craigslist(fixed the handle before I let them go ) ,guy was happy to get them .No cabinets left but have about 25-30 diff Dorman numbers studs and lug nuts some just one some 5-10 . Anyone looking for a specific Dorman number let me know I will check what I have ? Not sure but don't think any are 30s-50s I think there 60s-80s ? Again not sure ?
