went to fire up the 40 year old hobart 180 and the ground cable was in bad shape anyone know where to get a replacement the machine end is a push in brass stud the local weld shops are not much help thanks
If it's the cable you are looking for McMaster-Carr has any gauge and length you can need. The push in brass pin and ground clamp should be removable, most use allen screws to attach the cable.
Need to measure the studs carefully with a mic or calipers. Some studs are only .020" difference and have a different taper. Lenco will sell it for less than $10 each. You just need to figure which one you need.
I posted just after Double posted his pictures. Do you mean the cable needs to be soldered to the plug in end? If that's the case just clean it up and re-solder it. If it can't be soldered, you could have a machine shop fabricate a new one with a compression screw.
I think I have seen bolt on models of this plug at the local welding supply house. I would take the old one along to be sure of getting the right diameter.
