Believe it's 30/31 is it a Briggs or Murray my question. Sent from my SM-J727R4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Sure looks like 30-31 Ford to me. Late 31 had teardrop shaped indent where fuel shut off is. I may be mistaken but. . . Murray's and/or Briggs did not have removable gas tank like the Ford. Good luck S10.
Later 31's had a indent around the fuel shutoff. Pretty sure (money back guarantee if I'm wrong) the early 31's had a smooth firewall like a 30.
and the way to tell if it is a Murray or Briggs body (if a 4 door sedan) is the the tops of the doors just above the windows has a slight curve to it if it is a Murray, the Briggs is straight there. This is a Murray body, see the top of the door glass.
thats just a sediment bowl on the firewall, the fuel shut off is still inside on the tank until the late 31 indented pain in the ass fire wall came out. i have two pain in the ass fire walls, and i got tired of opening the hood to shut off the gas so i made a line back into the car, with a valve inside, then back out the fire wall.
The indented firewall was introduced in May of 1931. Rectangular reinforcements on the interior side of the firewall, near the radiator support bracket's were added beginning in October of 1930.
I'm sorry that I didn't think of this in my previous post, but in mid 1930, Murray and Briggs placed their body style/ number plate or coach builder plate just below the Ford Patent Plate. I don't see their plate on your firewall. If someone removed their plate there should be two small holes under the Patent Plate If not, your body is a Ford body, as others have suggested.
steel but i cut it all out and made replacement skeleton from tubing Sent from my SM-J727R4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
any briggs or murrays that I have had had wooden subfloors... if you have one stash the 2 rivet body # tag... handy later...
Briggs and Murray also did other A bodies than the for Ford. Those for Ford had wood subrails, but coupes and tudors had metal subrails. My 31 coupe is a Briggs built body, Murray and Ford also built coupe bodies. Not sure if only Ford built the Tudor’s. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
