Hi all, I get an old tranny - 18-7006 instead the 4 speed truck transmission we wrote last time - yiiihaa. I know, not the best tranny to go, but there is a groove in the housing and I guess there are later gears in from 1938 a 48. Cluster has 28-24-18-14 teeth. The Cluster was sitting in a very stinky soup in the transmission case. Please see the picture in the attachment. It has a nice side and a not so nice side. Have I got to change it, or is this re-workable? and if yes, how? If not, I have to accept it.... :-( Perhaps someone has one of this, cause finding one here in germany is not sooo easy. thanks for all your opinions again. The gearset is from a 1936 to 38 transmission. The shifter housing is 1932-35. The rear support appears to be the 1933-34 type. There could be an issue with the fit of the low/reverse shifter fork to the low/rev gear but I would have to see closer details to confirm that. The cluster gear has the appearance of being badly pitted. If this is the case, you should replace it. Good used 28 tooth cluster gears are in demand and getting harder to find. We do have the new reproduction gears available at this time.
That groove was probably due to a very loose bearing at some time in this transmissions past. It does not have the appearance of a machined groove for clearance for a larger gear.........but could be! Bones
Great to hear you got repros, could you give me the correct number, so I could order that one? It is 28 24 18 14 teeth Thanks a lot in advance. ..also do you have the correct overhaul kit..? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
