First timer here- I have a 1963 Galaxie 500 with a 2 barrel 352 mated with a cruise-o-matic that I just pulled from the car. The pulled block is bored .040 over and appears to be sleeved, and is a quite rusty. I don't plan on using it. I have a motor from a Mustang with the below specs I want to drop into the Galaxie Ford FE Series 390 Big Block. Date code 6H27 (August 8, 1966) for the short block. The heads are #C8AE-H 1968 GT 500 heads. New/m- select cam & lifters (hydraulic). Cam lift/ int 281 - EXH 296. Valve lift/int. 486 - EXH.512. It is as close to a 428 SCJ cam, but a little bigger. It is bored .040 over. New valve springs. New timing chain/double roller. It has 7 or 8 quart oil pan. New high volume oil pump. New Edelbrock performer 390 intake manifold. It also has GT390 exhaust manifolds eramic coated. Edelbrock water pump and new fuel pump. I test fitted the engine and it fits, but the manifold flange on the GT390 manifolds passenger side are seem really close to the firewall. I'm worried about clearance once the cruise-o-matic is back on with the starter mounted. What can I do to replace those GT390 14 bolt manifolds with something that will clear better, or perhaps I can get away with an elbow to make the curve downward. I want to keep the C8AE-H 1968 GT 500 heads and avoid drilling them. The 8 bolt manifold logs from the 352 will not match up with that head. Thanks all for helping !
