Technical Identify a Mopar engine?

    Without machining the mating surfaces the 440 intake doesn't fit on a 383. As the RB lifts the heads the distance between them increases making the 440 intake wider

    On the early Hemis the Maltese cross meant 1 or more crank journals were .001 under size & a diamond meant .008 oversize lifter bores....

    A 440 (and all RB motors) intake manifolds were nearly 1" wider then a 383 (and other low block motors) intake manifolds, so the RB intake is not going to work on your low block 383. A 70s 400 intake will fit on your low block 383 though. Gene
