I've been trying to find a fuel filter that has 5/16 inverted flare fittings at each end, maybe 1 1/2 diameter and a couple inches long, fittings at each end. I think they were normal filters back in the '50's but I can't find one anywhere, I need one to button up my fuel system. Anybody know where I can order one? Thanks, stay safe, Oj
Go to a parts store that has access to Donnelson filters. If they have a book browse through it to see if they have one. They are probably the largest supplier of filters around. If they don’t have it it isn’t out there.
This is what I'm using. It has 1/4 NPT thread and works with standard inverted flare 5/16" fuel line and fittings. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Profession...427512&hash=item4d7d38b161:g:rbcAAOSwLVZV1FbW
Not strictly what you asked, but you can get NPT x flare fittings and make other filters work with your flared lines too. That’s what I did.
Just curious...why do you think this? Have you ever seen one? If so, where? (I use a 33032 and bubble the ends of the metal line, and connect with rubber hose. Easy to find a replacement at a parts store, when you need it)
Seems I remember hard line going to and from the fuel filters, I might be wrong and maybe there were male adaptors in there but seems like OEM wouldn't have extra fittings when they could just make the filter to fit the line.
3/8 inverted flare was common, you could use a reducer fitting or maybe they make a flare nut for 5/16 line with the 3/8 inverted flare nut.
I think I found one, difficult to see the size but like SaltFlats says I can use the bigger nut on the line. Thanks to jimvetter59 that suggested to look for a Jag, I searched that then went to Chrysler and then to GM where I found this one.
That's 3/8, from the mid 60s (65 Vette 396). The 50s saw a lot of hard line connected fuel filters, but they were usually the glass bowl type, which had 1/8" NPT x 5/16" IF fittings screwed into it.
Napa. Napa Gold 3481 looks like for 3/8th ferrel fitting nuts [?] but will get you in the ball park.. Depends on counter person.
I think I found this one at AutoZone, but I'm not sure. Maybe for a Ford. Has pipe thread on the outlet side, so not exactly what you asked for.
my heater uses this one, They are special order and Expensive like 14 bucks There’s a wix cross reference, for it to
This is the aACDelco Jag one mentioned above. 1/2 inch, can get 5'16 fittings. Check ebay, they're all over it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/2231086671...MIgM24osyx6AIVCcreCh0ViwsqEAQYAyABEgKDv_D_BwE
old torpedo heater “Champ junior job maker” very early 70s It uses a standard burner chassis that you’d find in any oil burning furnace or boiler. thing kicks ass too. Very Quiet and clean.
Mopar even had them in their transmission line.....have an original some where around......think it was from a 1962 Dodge.........
Look up AC fuel filter GF90, used on mid-60's corvettes and 350hp, 327" motors. Here is a picture...all of the restoration sites sell them for between $50-$60... Carid has similar listed for $12..just doesn't have the AC marking...
Bob Lowry, good info. I found that same filter on Amazon. I bought several just to have them. Jim Forbes, that filter was on my "64" 300 horse Corvette. I am a bit anal when it comes to fuel filters. The filter with the rubber line on each end, to me, are so tacky.
Since you guys helped me find one, i thought I'd post the results of having it: Now I think I can 'nail down' my intake and make the line dropping down to the pump. Thanks for the help, Oj
