I don't think that '40 front belongs to this car the body does not look like a Ford.

OIPU6Y0HQ4D.jpg I think that body style ended in 1939, and the '40 nose was added. Bob

Workmanship looks very good but to me this is a case of just because you can doesn't mean you should.

  4. Well then that is something that you did do that you would have regretted if you had done it. LOL

when I was little cars like that used to show up at the Ol' Man's shop once in a while. Some of them belonged to people he liked. LOL he usually called them an abortion unless they were well executed. I kind of like that one, but just because it makes me feel normal. ;)

the Lil' Coffin. I mentioned in a thread yesterday that we really needed a forum for show cars. They are way over the top for me to own and drive (and way more work than I have a desire to do) but we have people here that build cars of that quality and I do like lookin'.

I remember that from Car Craft back in the day....kinda sticks in your mind whether you want it there or not.

I guess I'm in the minority. I think it is an interesting take on the old Ford, definitely not your 'run of the mill' hot rod. The front end and grille are eye-catching, probably never gonna see another one like that. Maybe we will see a build thread on here one of these days. I hope so.

I admire the effort that went into it, maybe even the imagination. The proportions are a little skewed, but I imagine the builder might not have been able to visualize the finished product properly. I might go back with a more reserved hood/fender setup up front if it were mine. Widened and veed deuce grille. Bring the rear fender edge out a little, match the front width, maybe bob the rear edge of both ends. No point in running boards.

Overall I like it, the front end just doesn't seem right somehow. If I had it it would require a lot of planning (sitting with a beer and staring at it) to figure out what to do.

Looks like a 60's custom body shop with a lot of non paying customers.

I liked it better when I couldn't see most of it. With that said, what would it look like if you put back to the normal width? Moose, are you up for the challenge?!

@redranch what ever became of the collection of interesting blasts from the past...

I posted a pic of that Model A some time ago and I tried to source info and came up dry and low and behold this Thread pops up...I'm glad you shared it despite the negatives...I will bump my post back up linking it back to this Thread. I hope it all found a good Caretaker. I did note at the time it wasn't crafted by an amateur by any means...Thanks for taking the time to share these as many of us here sincerely appreciate it...

It’s ugly but the craftmanship is first class. It definitely needs to be restored, I can imagine how much attention this would attract at a rod run or show.

Just a thought, maybe go back to the earlier headlight treatment and keep the later style hood?
For all those that just don't get it..., close your eyes and imagine yourself at an indoor car show in the middle 60's. Angle hair, candy paint, metal flake and chrome everyplace you looked. Everyone trying to out do the next guy.

There’s a reason why it’s been in that shed for a long time.

It’s the same reason it should stay there.
