Found on the back of a used car lot the other day, this warhorse could
be brought back to life. Berwyn, Illinois.

Why was it that the 58 Buicks and 58 Chevys looked so good with all the chrome? I had two friends, one with a 58 Del Ray and the other with an Impala. The Del Ray was impressive because it was built to race but the Impala was a bling covered cruiser and always attracted the crowd.

    Hello A,
Funny you should mention the 58 Buicks and the 58 Chevy Impala. They were both part of our family car history. My dad just missed out on getting the most chrome on any Detroit car back from those days, by buying a 1957 Buick. His 1957 Model had a lot of chrome, but, our grandfather (on my wife's side) did buy a 58 Buick and it was a huge shiny car with a ton of chrome and bling.

Those were great family cars with tons of room inside, except for two tall teenage boys in the back seat during our final family road trips.

The 1958 Buick was noted as the car from Detroit that had the most chrome add-ons of any product made back then. And, maybe even now. It was a glitter bomb of a family car. Our family grandfather was 90 when he was still the primary driver in that small Santa Ana house.

As far as the 58 Impala was concerned, there were different chrome add-on designs, to make it an unusual one of a kind, body style. By the way, the Biscaynes were not the only car used for drag racing.

Yeah, I've seen and read about your brother's ( ? ) Impala and it's cool, but the two cars I was referring to were in the Oklahoma City area in 63. Greasy John Holiday's 348 powered Del Ray was pretty hot. I don't remember the guy's name who drove the Impala but the car was a chick magnet.

Was watching the Tampa evening news yesterday and saw a black A roadster going west on Bayshore Blvd. Did anyone else see it?

My brother in law, Art, whom lives in Las Vegas showed me his "present" when we went through last week. His old law partner sent him this car because he thought Art might like it.

He says it is a '29 Model A cabriolet. I don't know an A from a B so I'll take his word for it. I do know that it is right hand drive (in Australia it is a "right hooker", I'm told) and appears to be bone stock. Did the fuel line and shut off really come into the car under the dash for the gauge? 29 ford a (2).jpg 29 ford a (1).jpg

  14. it is a model A phaeton not a cabriolet and the fuel shut off should be under the dash

At the USPS today. This is this guys daily driver, been in the family since new. I’ve seen it in all weather, rain, sun, sleet and snow. He was leaving Lowe’s one day with 2X4s hanging out the passenger side window.

Me too and I am getting pretty damned tired of it. At lease I have lots of things to do but I can't help being pissed that I have to miss Spring Carlisle swap meet next week. I keep telling myself that this will all be over soon and life will get back to almost normal, what ever that is.

Yep! We are heeding the advice of the powers! But it’s not a whole different than our normal routine! About 3 weeks ago I told my wife to double up on vitles . So she came home with a wagon full of food and necessities! Well, it’s almost gone now, we have been eating so funny combos! Tomorrow she is heading into town to buy what she can, for another three weeks. We really don’t care what the government says, we are being hermits for another three weeks. It’s not all that bad, I have been getting a lot of yard work done, that should have been done years ago! My neighbors have started talking to me again! So things are not real bad for us. Fixing to start on other projects!
Hope you and yours are safe!

Yep. Sherry and I (when we saw yesterday the weather forecast for today) planned to take a H-D ride today. Unfortunately we spent the entire day working in the back yard. Got a LOT done but not everything we wanted to do.

I don't drink beer and have never tried a Corona. However, when this thing is over we're gonna buy a 6-pack and put 3 of them in the spare bedroom and the other 3 in the back bathroom. To remind us that these are our Corona rooms. That is; the rooms we remodeled while holed up due to the Corona virus.

We're safe and hope everyone else is too.
