Frankland rear and their aluminum backing plates too. The brakes were an upgrade, they are Bendix instead of the Lockheed since most quickchanges used Ford axle bells, some from passenger and some 3/4 ton truck. If those drums are wide fives they are Frankland too, but they are finned and look like Buick’s, and the shoes are segmented, probably metallic linings.
Dang, didn't know there was anything Squirrel didn't know or couldn't research the answer too. But as usual the HAMB comes through with the answer in record time. I guess now the question is what are his plans for the rear end?
When he gets it apart, see if you can post some pics of the 'Skeleton' backing plates. Looking for part numbers and Frankland markings. Also, the face of the drum. Assuming that it has wide 5 bolt pattern.
5 by 5 late model stocker bolt pattern As I recall the brake shoes used on that setup were Buick. I had one years ago, but I don't remember for sure. They sure are heavy.
@squirrel and @Marty Strode, Those two rear ends are kinda like the 'Missing Link' for me. I have a long time build sitting on my QC rack waiting for me to figure out how to fit 5 X 5 drums on a full floating axle. I think the light bulb just started to flicker. Steve Langdon get your $ ready.
The lug nuts on the side photo look larger than 1/2-20 also or just might be my imagination. Not the same racing but the V8 quick I ran in my lakes roadster had 50 Merc axles and ends, brakes too. I still have the axles and sides in my stash it think. Way narrowed.
