Will a stock model a front spring fit on a 46” axle? If I de-leaf it will it fit? Or am I stuck buying a different spring or 48” axle?

I had a main leaf made for my trailer a while back and it was 100 bucks in Yakima WA.
This SoCal link somewhat tells what eye to eye length spring you need for your axle.

The right length new spring for your axle can be bought for a little over $100. Why complicate things?

Thanks for the replies. I’ll just be buying a new front spring.

With a 46” axle do guys run into wishbone problems with the turning radius?

  7. I think...the Model A through 1934 spring is 1 3/4 inches and the 35 and later is 2" in width.

It really depends on whose 46 inch axle you have, the perch bolt distance varies by manufacturer. It is the distance between the perch bolts that determines the length of the spring . The spring should be shorter than the distance between the perch bolts by about 5 inches from memory! So that the shackles are at a 45 degree angle once the weight is on the car.
If you have a stock Ford axle which has been dropped , they also vary by years . I think Roadsters.com has a chart.

If your perch centers are 34" , you'll need a 29" spring. usa made from Posies is best. Not trailer springs from Speedway etc. Junk ! BOL

  10. No more than normal as the wishbone bosses are narrower.
