Great way to start the day

  8. The name of that color is "burnt sugar". There is a cool story behind that car, I'll see if the owner will chime in to tell the tale. He picked up my 57 this morning for some minor body work.

I'm not a big fan of side pipes, but I LIKE this car.

Once a year Corvette Club of Michigan rented Waterford Hills Race Track for the day and ran timed laps on the track. That was a blast!! I was always at the slow end of the times for my class but man that was a fun day!! I sure wish I would have taken more pictures back then. Obviously, the whole track was packed with Hot Rodded Corvettes.

  13. I can remember when working on a corvette in the Detroit area was a “big deal” you didn’t take them to the Dealer...you went to Johns Corvette Care in Dearborn , Downriver Corevette Shop in Wyandotte, Or the Vetteshop in Southfield...only place still doing almost all Vette stuff is Vettestorations in Southfield...you also never saw a vette out on a crappy day..man when I was a kid in the 70’s I’d you knew anyone that had a vette you were king shit..my neighbor had a cocoa brown 78 and I would wash it for him just to have him pull the T tops and take me out cruising. Had another friend that had a good looking mom ( single..think Harper Valley PTA) and she had a baby blue/ dark blue interior Vette...my mom never understood how a mom with two kids had a 2 seat car...or how she paid for it haha

He may have passed you at Doheny but it's a long way west on Sunset to Deadman's.

Same, here. Do you think that cover is a factory piece of some sort or custom made?

    Definitely not a factory piece.

I love the wheels and tires and I even like the color. I've seen this taillight treatment before. Similar to the multi-colored '62 posted earlier but possibly a different year part that fits and looks better.

  19. I think the purple car above has 1964 Buick Riviera taillights. I've seen that done before.

That right there is a great photo. You can just feel it. My triceps tighten looking at the Vette chassis unload as it crests the rise and right foot lightens on the gas pedal in case it gets sideways. And there's that RHD big block Cobra...Ken Miles driving??...

Dave, No thats a pretty hot 406 sb hooked up to a TKO600 and a Ford 9". The 540 bb (it's a 59) car is still under construction. been working on it everyday during the lockdown. I thought I recognized the name. Stay healthy all !

    You could be right.
I was thinking the car might be the first hand-built Venice CSX big block car wearing bare aluminum before it was painted.

ETA: This car but it's LHD.
You are correct. There were several V8 converted Austin-Healy 3000's.

ETA2: I was going to take and post photos of John Ridings Lee's Edelbrock 525 powered 1956 Le Mans Austin-Healy 100/4 M BN2 at the Highland Park historic car show but the event got cancelled because of the virus. Maybe next year or if we make the trip to Leno's place.
